idle users on "show user"

I have an AS5350 on my LAN. When i checked "show users" one day, it showed an idle console connection. I checked the box and found NO connection made to the console port. Could someone explain a possible reason and more importantly HOW TO PREVENT this happenning.

You could configure an idle timeout on the 5300. This will disconnect the line once the time limit is reached.

Hi:

You can use

"service tcp-keepalives-in"

to prevent loss-of-connection session and

"exec-time time"

in console and VTY to prevent your problem.
