IP allocation via DHCP and GSM Mobile Users

Hi,

I work for a Mobile ISP which offers GSM data connections terminated on AS5300 (e.g. WAP or HSCSD).

Since now we have used a local pool of IP addresses defined on the AS5300 and now we are trying to implement the distribution of IP addresses via DHCP. Of course mobile users don't have embeded DHCP client and the 'true' allocation still occur via PPP/IPCP but I have defined a DHCP proxy-relay on the AS5300 pointing to a DHCP Server defined localy on the AS5300.

The problem I am facing is that some IP addresses are allocated via DHCP -> PPP (correct) and some via PPP directly (wrong)! If I am doing a 'sh ip dhcp bind' some users only are in the table. If I do a 'sh user' I see more users and the worst is that some IP addresses are allocated several time !

This behaviour is strange and I have upgraded the AS5300 to the latest 12.2(21) release but no progress.

Any idea or recommendation ?

Thank you for your response. So far, I did not find an answer to my problem. Could you tell me if the behaviour I mentioned (DHCP and IPCP address allocation simultaneously) is a normal one if it could be an IOS bug.
