Serial Data Over IP

Is it possible to tunnel RS422 serial synchronous data over IP? I have an intercom system that requires an audio signal and a data (RS422) signal between the intercom station and frame. I can handle the audio with voice WIC's but the RS422 seems to be a challenge. Any help is appreciated.
