setup of a 1721 via BT Megastream

Hi,

Just to confirm some details....

I am setting up a WAN link to a remote office via a BT 2Mbps serial link. Both ends will be using a 1721 router with a X.21 WIC for the connection and a Fast Ethernet connection into the network at each end. I have given an IP address to fastethernet port of the router at the main site end within the same subnet as the main site's addressing scheme, the remote site has a different subnet (obviously!) From what I gather, I do not need to assign an IP address to either of the serial ports on each of the routers. Firstly, is this correct, secondly have I missed anything.

Thanks, for your help

You do need to assign an IP address (or use IP unnumbered to the LAN) in order for IPCP to negotiate and then for IP traffic to pass over the interface.
