Trying to use wake on lan, doesn't work after arp table times out (weekends). Should we increase timeout by that much? Another suggestion was to allow directed broadcast of only the UDP port 4725 from only the vlan sending the wake on lan packet. Sounds like an access list, too much trouble?

To my knowledge, the router, this is a broadcast and will be dropped unless you use ip-helper at the ingress interface of the segment where the WOL broadcasts will be coming FROM. Then it depends on the topology as to whether you need to use ip directed-broadcast" on the interface of the segment that the WOL packets will be going TO.

Thanks, I guess there's more than one way to use wake on lan, we haven't had to change anything to make it work as long as the arp table is populated. We'll try the increased timeout in a small portion of the network and see what happens.
