I'm operating a Cisco4700 Router.
Today, a configuration was automatically(i'm not sure) issued that was 'nrzi-encoding' on a serial interface and the communication between the interface was not worked any more.
I tried to search about the command, but there was not enough explanation about the command.
I want to know how can I use this command and what kind of applicable situation.
Thanks.

As far as I know, this command is mostly used when configuring SDLC (IBM SNA) on the serial link and shouldn't be used for PPP, HDLC or Frame Relay encapsulation.
Hope this help,

NRZI is nonreturn to zero inverted. This is encoding method.by default, router's interface setting is NRZ. If you have configred the router for NRZI, another router sure be set NRZI too.
In the IBM SNA environment, almost all divice set to NRZI, so router's interface also set to NRZI.
