Access Control Lists

I am trying to permit just a handful of ports on several routers. What is the correct syntax to do this? and, if there is a good document that I can reference on a regular basis... what is that.

the best place to start for anything like this is the TAC. Their documents tend to be a bit more "hands on" than the Configuration Guides. Here is their doument collection about access lists:
