Alternate SAPD transport (other than ftp)

I'd like to have the alarm logs moved when they serialize. Before I write a script to do this -- can I do that with sapd? Specifically -- I am doing this with ftp within sapd right now -- I want to use ssh or sftp.

No alternative is supported at this time. You’ll have to use ftp within your scripts.

I'd like to put it in as a request for added functionality. I use this feature HEAVILY to warehouse IDS logs to my db backend and currently, its the only unencrypted channel outside of the alarm traffic (Im unfortunately stuck with HPUX, no ipsec support for me right?). Having sapd call ssh, or another external script at serialization time would be a big win for me.
