Hi,
I know that a cable failover do the same things as a lan failover, and moreover a cable failover can detect a power failure (the lan failover can not do it).
Can we have in the same PIX a cable failover and a lan failover??
Thanks.

cable failover WILL NOT do stateful failover (AFAIK)
yes you can do both cable + lan, and have quick failover + stateful
cheers

I have PIXs with cable failover and an interface dedicated to a stateful failover, I think that the main difference between the cable failover and the lan failover is the distance between the PIX and its failover (the distance is limited with a cable failover).

cable only failover:
6 meters max (cable length)
no stateful failover (ie no tcp information syncronisation)
can detect poweroff from other unit immediately
lan failover:
can have any distance (upto max ethernet distance of course)
statefull failover
must wait ~45 seconds for 3 hello's to timeout before determining other unit is dead.
use both for the best of both worlds - unless you must have your pix's more than 6 meters apart.
