I have an 837 running 12.4(5b) release FC2.
I have been using the latest version of SDM V232 to configure this router.
I have enabled the SDM_LOW (higher settings are greyed out) firewall configuration, but I seem to be getting inundated with problems.
The ADSL connection seems to deteriate over time untill it resets, or the router reboots.
I believe that I am constantly under attack as the firewall log shows so many attempts to connect to my router that have been blocked. I am sure that some attacks are being carried out.
The reason I changed to a cisco837 was because the security on the cheap dlink etc are so poor.
Can anyone offer any sugestions as to what I can do to prevent this.
Am I right in thinking that if I take out a support contract I can upgrade to a higher IOS that will allow me to use the more secure level of the SDM firewall.
Will I be able to acces the SDF files from cisco to help with the IPS?
I am a little dissapointed with this device as I bought it thinking that it was the IP security version, only to find that all the functionality is unavailable in this version and trying to find out information from Cisco is like getting blood out of a stone.
