Hello everyone,
my users and I are experiencing Problems with the new Cisco Umbrella Client.
The Old Umbrella Roaming Client worked fine, but to stay up to date, we decided to migrate to the Cisco Secure Client.
I managed to get it installed via MS Intune, with deactivated VPN features of the Client and an imported Organization ID.
In rare cases the installation works fine and Umbrella is active. But most of the time Umbrella is installed, but stays inactive.
Reinstalling sometimes helps for a short period of time. In my example, I installed the Secure Client with the Umbrella Module on my HP Notebook. It was inactive. After reinstalling the Secure Client and the Module Umbrella managed to become active. This unfortunately lasted only one day. Since then the client is inactive again.
Visiting welcome.umbrella.com showed me, that Umbrella is recognized and working.
See attached Screenshots for more info.
We are Using The Cisco Secure Client and Umbrella Module in Version 5.1.7.80
Both the old Umbrella Client and the new Cisco Secure Client Devices use the Umbrella default policy.
I did not manage to find any viable solution for this. Reinstalled Clients go inactive the next day. Rebooting and setting the DNS Server on the local machine to the Umbrella DNS did not help either. Anyone encountered the same problem and got a solution?
Greetings,
Tobi

We had the same problem since migrating to Cisco Secure Client. For us it was SSL Decryption.
Make sure to exclude the following from SSL Decryption:
The following domains should be bypassed directly to allow all traffic with TCP on ports 80 and 443:
https://docs.umbrella.com/umbrella-user-guide/docs/secure-client-prerequisites
That fixed it for us.

Thank you! I managed to get Umbrealla working just a few days ago.
I contacted the support and ended up with the following list of Domains or IPs I enabled to be reached via HTTP + HTTPS and excluded them from any SSL Inspections:

A short update: On another test client where Umbrella was inactive for about a week it startet beeing active all of a sudden.
But it shows the licens is invalid.
The licence should be valid, since I imported the Organization ID and the Client shows up in the Umbrella Dashboard. I checked the licence at it is active until next year. Unfortunatelly it was allready renewed by our management two days ago, which I would not have recommended on how the new Client is "working".
My client still experiences the same issue as mentioned above.
Does anyone have a solution or idea where to look? Im kinda lost on what to do, instead of relying on the old, not supported Roaming Client.
