CSAMC 4.0.3

I´am trying to install Cisco Security Agent V4.0.3.

Here are my settings:

- W2000 Server english (all requirements are in place)

- Common Services are intsalled

- VMS 2.2 with update 1 is installed

After installing the new csamc, there are a plenty of strange things:

- Cannot Access CSAMC GUI (ssl is activated)

- Most *.exe don´t work any longer (even cmd.exe fails)

- MS IE don´t work

- a lot of perl.exe error messages

- and so on

I know that an server agent is automatically installed on the CiscoWorks Server. This agent doesn´t work stabel as well...

Any idea?

I have tried everything:

- Setting up a new W2000 server

- Installing Common Services several times (a lot of wasted time)

- Installing CSAMC several times

... and finally I believe that CSA is not out of beta stage

Thanks in advance

Edgar

Hello,

You need to put CSA for that your VMS server in "Test Mode".

Do this:

1. Web in to your VMS box http://yourserver:1742

2. login

3. On the left pane click on "VPN/Security Managment Solution"

4. Click on "Security Agents"

5. Click on on "Systems" tab and then click on "Groups"

6. Click "CiscoWorks VMS Systems"

7. check "Test Mode"

8. Save

9. On the middle of the page click on "Generate Rules"

10. On the bottom left click on generate

11. One it's done doing its thing double click on the red flag on the systems tray and click on advanced and then "Poll"

Once the hour glass goes away you should be cooking.

Remember in this mode no rules are enforced.

Good Luck

Ashkan

Correction:

Step 1 should read : https://yourserver:1742

Thanks, but this is exactly what I couldn´t do, because in most cases I get some windows error messages when I am starting anykind of application (e. g. MS Internet Explorer).

Meanwhile I have solved the problem (the hard way):

- Installing a new Server with all settings to US English

- Installing Common Services 2.2

- Installing VMS 2.2 Update 1

- Installing CSA 4.0

- Update MSDE to MSDE SP3a

- Import old Database into MSDE SP3a

- Installing CSMAC 4.0.3

Now everything is up and running. It was hard to get there ... every step has to be in the right order.

Thanks
