I have a cable modem with static ip. That would be my (public) right? address, connected to a router, to get internet access to everybody on my network(local area), now, we just bought a cisco concentrator 3005, and I have a lot of questions, but I don't want to pay gazillions dollars for stupid questions, but for example:

1) configuring ethernet(1), when i'm configuring ethernet 1

should I assign the ip address within my local network or should I just assign a new one outside my local network?

2) ethernet(2), well it is suppossed to be the public interface, when they say "public" what do they mean? do they mean use your (wan) static ip address? or should I assign a new one?

I know the concentrators are more that a hand full to set up the first time.

Make me a drawing, or something so I can see what your trying to connect and I will try to help.
