Enabling Failover

I am installing a PIX 515 with a failover box. Both units are connected via the failover cable. The problem I am having is that the primary unit is showing that it does not have Failover enabled. When I try to enable it, I am being told I do not have a license for failover.

Shouldn't this have come with the failover lisense since it was purchased that way?

How do I go about getting the failover enabled?

Seth

Hi Seth,

For the FO to work, you need an UR license on the Primary and either a UR or FO license on the secondary. What does the 'sh ver' output show for the failover?

If it does not show Failover enabled, then send the show ver of both the pix to licensing@cisco.com and request an activation key for the same.

Load the activation keys into the PIxs by issuing the "activation-key" command

Hope this helps,
