Failover and upgrade

Hi,

I have 2 PIX 515 in failover, ONE has a Failover Only (FO) license.

I would like to change activation key for 3DES support and upgrade IOS.

Please, how to do that ? Shall I break the failover ? how ?

To upgrade the PIX pair with minimal down time (there will always be a downtime), you can follow the steps on this link:

Now, regarding the License upgrade to 3DES on both devices, I guess that the best way to do it would be to send an e-mail to licensing@cisco.com and ask for the 3DES upgrade; just remember to send them a copy of the 'show version' of both units.

You can also get the Activation Key from this link:

http://cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_sw/license/license.htm

Just select 3DES/AES Encryption License... If something goes wrong with the Activation Key generated on-line, then use the first option (licensing@cisco.com) or open a TAC case.
