hit count reset - only with "clear...counters"?

do access list counters get reset when the PIX 525, os v6.2, is re-booted? or only when "clear access-list <acl_id> counters" command is issued?

Yes, it will clear the ACL hit counts if you re-boot, but much better to clear with command:

clear access-list counters

Point taken about doing it with command instead of re-boot.

I was coming more from the direction of "are these numbers from forever? or just since last week's power failure?" So your info covered the ground...
