Hi,

We're facing problem when trying to upgrade our IDS 4230 Sensor from 4.1(1)S47 to 4.1.(4)S91:

sensor# conf t

sensor(config)# upgrade scp://service@10.0.0.23//tmp/IDS-K9-sp-4.1-4-S91.rpm.pkg

Password: *********

Warning: Executing this command will apply a service pack to the application partition.

The system may be rebooted to complete the upgrade.

Continue with upgrade? : yes

Broadcast message from root (Thu Sep 30 14:53:45 2004):

Applying update IDS-K9-sp-4.1-4-S91.

Shutting down all CIDS processes. All connections will be terminated.

The system will be rebooted upon completion of the update.

Error: AnalysisEngine is currently busy and unable to process this update.

Please wait several minutes before attempting update again.

The Error message received provides no justice.

We've waited for an hour and the same error message appeared.

Anybody ever encountered similar problems before?

The problem is that sensorApp (also called AnalysisEngine) is not running or not responding to the system.

You can try running "show version" to see if AnalysisEngine is Running.

If it is Not Running then reboot the sensor before attempting the upgrade.

If it is running then try "show interface" to see if AnalysisEngine is responding.

If you get an error that the application is unable to respond then the application is busy.

This is normal for several minutes after an upgrade or after tuning signatures because if takes a little bit for it to process the configuration changes.

It can also happen under certain bugs as well. If the application does not respond after a few minutes then try rebooting the sensor, and be sure the application is responding to "show interface" before attempting the upgrade.
