IDS - urgent requirement

Hi,

Our company which has a server farm with around 25 servers protected by a pix 515 firewall from internet is under going a transition this weekend. Two of our vendors who used to do billing for the company is moving out and some new vendor is starting to carry out their responsibility. Since the moving out vendor has had a bad experience from the management we do not expect the transition to be smooth. Also the company management fears that the moving out vendor would try to stage some security attacks against the company. We do not have any tools for detecting or monitoring such attacks. Could some one suggest an intrusion detecting tool which is cheap or a demo version which we could use over the week to detect any such activity. Management is willing to make small investments aso for this. Could some one suggest an efective tool ?

regards,

jimmy.

Well I like to push the Cisco gear whenever possible but I would go with SNORT if you want the most bang for the least amount of bucks. It's an open source IDS and even though it is open sourced and basically free it is an industry standard and it is very good.
