Installation procedure for Cisco Works

We need to write a Cisco Works (IDS MC) installation documentation. Is there a written procedure from Cisco as we can't find it.

There's this document:

titled: Installing, Upgrading, and Uninstalling IDS MC and Security Monitor on Windows

but there is more to it to get IDS MC installed from scratch.

Are you familiar with the above link?

The basic procedure I use is:

1) Intall W2k with SP4 on server meeting specs

2) Install Common Services

3) Install patches from install CD (autorun installs these)

4) Install Update 1

5) Install IDS MC

6) Install Patches for IDS MC

7) Install Signature Updates

8) Add sensors and tune

There's more details to each step, like where to find the files, etc.

Tell us more about the details you want and we can try to see what exists.

How about detailed instructions on Solaris installation with troubleshooting steps for when the installation proceedur listed above fails?

Not having installed it on Solaris, let's hope someone else can help or start a new post. The above procedures should still apply, except the Windows related SP4 and updates to the OS.

As far as using and troubleshooting, I would refer to the Using Management Center for IDS Sensors 1.2 http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/mgt_ids/idsmc12/ug/index.htm

In this chapter, there are several more chapters that can help with Tuning, Troubleshooting, etc.
