Interface Resets

Hi Guys,

We had an issue with one of T1 lines and switched it to a different wiring set.

I noticed that the Input Errors are 0, Frame is 0 and the interface resets are 349

What does that value mean?

This could be related to your telco side, are you running Frame-Relay? Is this happening constantly? have you spoken to your telco?

Yes it's frame-relay. We have two T1's so I can compare one against the other for stats.

I asked MCI(UUNET) about this, but I couldn't get a clear answer from them.

I'm not sure if interface resets are triggered by a packet, actual physical issues, loss of connectivity to the DSLAM or what?

Not sure what interface resets are telling me.

CCO has a great tool that analyzes the output of the sh int CLI command and explains the cause of the errors and offers tips on how to react to the errors or warnings. Start CCO, login, select technical support, then tools & utilities and finally Output Interpreter. Works great, I use it to show clients where the problems are.

Don't have CCO access outside of guest, which gives you nothing.

Interface resets are caused by:

- interface going down

- interface being looped

- or a packet not being sent for several seconds, the router performs a reset to try and clear the error condition.
