Hello,
You need to give us a little bit more information. Is this router will have the full routing table from the Internet, partial routes or just a default route to your ISP?
Regards,
Nadine.

The router will act as our Gateway to the internet. Will be sitting outside our firewall. It will be just a default route to our ISP.

Hi,
A Cisco 1700 Series IP router should be ok, ask your ISP too for what they would recommend.

Hello,
As of IOS 12.1T, SSH is supported on Cisco 1700 series.

Thanks for all your replys. We want a router that will cater for the current connection and will have to cater fo the future plans. Currently we have a 128Kbps dedicated link to our ISP. Our plans is to upgrade our Internet link to 2Mbps dedicated connection and host Government Web sites. We have been given the authority to administer/adverise gov.fj domain. We also have private organisation who wish to access government infomation so may VPN will do for that.
So, I think 1700 wont be able to handle all this. Please advice

2MBit is no problem for the 1700er Routers. If you have a serial link or adsl connection buy a 1721.
If you need VPN buy the vpn module for the 1721.
If it is a ethernet link (PPPOE for example) buy a 1712/11. The 1711/12 have a integrated VPN-Module and is able to en/decrypt 5Mbit/s 3Des which should be ok for your 2Mbit WAN and is very cheap.

We have upgrade our Internet link to 2Meg and doing bandwidth monitoring using cricket. I have notice that cricket is picking up the BW 1544 Kbit that is shown on the "show interface serial0" .
Does this means that my serial interfac can only go as far as 1544Kbps ?
