Hi,
I'm trying to install a common DSL/Cable firewall router for peripheral security between LAN and Internet.
My approach is to connect outside line to Cisco 1601 router to firewall to LAN.
I heared that it could be done if I turn off NAT from Cisco.
I'd like to make sure if it works that way.
If not, any suggestion for simple, cost-effective way to have protection?
Thanks in advance.

Well you could put the firewall feature set on the 1601 and eliminate the need for the firewall box. Otherwise, get a simple Ethernet firewall box like the PIX 506 and gateway it at the outside router. Have it do NAT and just route all that traffic to your ISP.
