I'm not that familiar with cisco's adsl products. can someone recommend some adsl modems that have great firewall/gateway protection and tools as well. it would be for swapping a freebee Sprint business ADSL class modem.

837 has a adsl wan port and 4x fast ethernet ports. it also supports fireall feature set.
alternatively, 877 is the latest model with better performance. the main advantage is that this router integrated with wireless lan.

would the 877 provide enough firewall protection to protect a web site? or is it lacking compared to others? i'm wondering how good the logging is as well.

providing a web server needs to be hosted and security is one of the management concerns, i believe a proper dmz should be deployed.
depending on the budget,
$$$ 1x adsl modem/router + 1x pix515e/asa
$$ 1x 837/877 + 1x pix501/506e
$ 1x 837/877
a dmz is recommended for hosting a webserver since it is one of the favorites of the intruders. assuming there is no dmz, and once the webserver is compromised, then all the private resources are exposed.
the main difference between the first and the second options are the ease of management. with the first option, only one device needs to be modified for the future maintenance; alternatively, with the second option, two devices need to be modified. further, the second option will make troubleshooting much more complicated. it really is a trade-off of money and time.
