Hi,
where can i found the informations about using multiple FWSM-Modules in one Cat6513 to increase the throughput rate.
Best regards.

Treat them as different firewalls at layer3 and distribute the load as you want (dedicate so-and-so vlans to the respective firewalls).
Just don't put a FWSM in port 13 (there is a issue with this for some IOS releases).

A recent conference I attended discussed this. You only benefit in speed by adding having either 2, 4 or 8 FWSM-modules in your chassis. Any numbers outside of those will simply double your throughput while having a spare available. For example, having 3 blades means you've got the doubled throughput of two of them and the 3rd is a spare for failover.

Load balancing can be done like
by using Vlan Span tree

Thaks for this information, but we need the L3 - load balance for VLAN-Interfaces of multiple FWSMs in one chassis without manualy vlan-distribution.

I had hopes, that L3 load balance is possible without manualy distribution of vlan-interfaces. Good information about slot 13. Thanks.

Dear Johansens,
What is the problem if we are placing FWSM module in 13 th slot..I am not getting the point..
In our project , we placed the FSM module in 13 th slot only. WE are using s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-vz.122-33.SXH4.bin ios and
FSM Version 3.2(5)
Is there any problem in our Network?
Thanks in advance
Tks&Rgds

Thank you for this Information. Is it realy possible to work with 8 FWSMs into one chassis?

Hi,
I will recomend you that check the following field notice:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2706/products_field_notice09186a00804093ee.shtml
It could force you to use bus-mode... on the details of the note, you can see that CISCO recomend to check performance on the case of several modules on the same chasis.
Hope this helps (I really sorry, my english is very poor).
Juan.

Hi Juan,
thank you very much for this advice. Our environment is not affected, because of DEC is connected among the two sup720.
Best Regards.
