netmask in global command

hi

what is the significance of using netmask for dynamic nat in global command and what's the differnce between using the netmask and using the range say 10.1.1.50-10.1.1.55 in global.do both have the same effect? or different?

Both have the same effect when it comes to the accessability.

Specifying a range such as 10.1.1.50-10.1.1.55 gives you greater flexibility in defining your range of access. In your example, you have exactly 6 addresses.

Specifying a netmask means that you must conform to the rules of subnetting which means that you must take the exact number of addresses given within the range and you may not use the network id/broadcast address.
