Hi,
I was trying to configure PIX 501 via pdm. Somehow, the system hangs on the "loading pdm screen" after I type in the password trying to access PDM. The is some exception under the browser's status bar "java.security.AccessControlException:access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission java.version read)". I am sure that is something related to java, I am using java version 1.5.0. I think this version should be the latest version. Anyone can help?

It is an issue with the newer java run times and the pdm. Use an older version of the jvr or upgrade the pdm. Link below has the details.

Please rate if this helps!

I am using the ASDM, which is for the PIX, according to what I have PDM works for FWSM, ASDM is the same but works for PIX.

ASDM will only work on 7.0 and up. The 501 does not run the 7.0 code.

Hi answer to this is simple. Upgrade the pdm to v3.04 or downgrade your java to 1.2, id go for the pdm upgrade it works done it today on a 515 wich ran 303 on pdm with same error, and i have had this error at least 20 time, same answer pdm has to be at version 3.04

PIX 501 does not run PIX 0S 7,0 it still uses the version 6.3x. Use JAVA Version 1.4.2_08 (build 1.4.2_08-b03) as proposed and you will not have any issue.
