Hi Everyone,
I am fairly new at networking so please bear with me.
I have a customer (without Smart Net) who has 2 locations with each an ASA 5505 and a 3560. He also has a spare of both in case one fails. I've heard of the way the ASA made changes in how NAT is configured between version 8.2 and later.
My question is : Can a 8.2 config be transferred to a version 9 OS without change? Or will the NAT rules have to be changed when being moved to v9? Is v9 backwards compatible with 8.2 configs?
Thank you,
Erick P.

Suggest to read the difference as per the below URL
I will however link a document about the new NAT format
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-31116
And other good document that compares the old/new NAT format
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9129
Look at the upgrade path also.
To upgrade to 8.3, we must be at 8.2
To upgrade to 9.x, we must be running a 8.3 or 8.4.

Thanks for the reply. I did some testing today and indeed it does take some manual work to do an upgrade between the 2. The automatic conversion feature can't do it all properly.
