Replacement RAID Battery for 210 Covered under SmartNet?

Hello,

My MARS is complaining that the battery on it's RAID controller needs replacing:

You are receiving this message because the RAID Battery Back-Up Unit (BBU) requires replacement soon in order to ensure that the CS-MARS system continues to perform as designed.  Prior to replacing the RAID BBU, please check the RAID Firmware version by running the "raidstatus" command from the CS-MARS system CLI: If the RAID is running a firmware version older than version 1.12.150-0438, the firmware will need to be upgraded for proper operation of the new RAID BBU.

raidstatus shows I have the right firmware.  Interestingly "sh healthinfo" displays:

BBU information :
Relative state of charge : 100 %
Full charge capacity : 507 mAh
Remain capacity : 505 mAh

which appears to say that the battery is OK.

The proceedure for replacing the FRU is here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/security/security_management/cs-mars/fru/raidbbu_fru.html#wp42325

and here

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/security/security_management/cs-mars/6.0/hardware/installation/guide/maintain_gen2.html#wp1219547

Is this covered under SmartNet?

Yes it should be. If your MARS is under active Smartnet contract, then open a TAC case to have the RAID Battery Back-Up Unit (BBU) replaced.

If we receive this message from MARS, regarding RAID BBU, and "show healthinfo" shows that battery is ok (

Relative state of charge : 93 %), is it necessary to replace this battery anyway?

In regards to replacing the RAID BBU, the relevant part of the 'show healthinfo' command output is not the Relative state of charge (%), it is the Full charge capacity value. A new RAID BBU will have a capacity somewhere between (approximately) 1,000 - 1,500 mAh. If you are receiving the automated Alert Notifications indicating your RAID BBU requires replacement, your 'show healthinfo' command output's Full charge capacity value is probably down in the 500 - 650 mAh range, indicating that yes, it needs to be replaced.
