Securing router DDNS update

I would like to configure a 1711 router to use DDNS to update my router's dynamic IP address with the dyndns.org web site using HTTP to creat a static hostname. Unfortunately, I have to allow port 80 into my router for the dyndns.org site to finalize the dynamic dyndns update. Is there a way to do this in a secure manner? I'm very concerned about allowing this and propagating the routers HTTP information over the internet to make the DDNS update with the dyndns.org site: http://username:xxxx.org/nic/update?system=dyndns&hostname/nic/update?system=dyndns&hostname</A>=<h>&myip=<a>

How about allowing port 80 only from a particular host, or if it is not control, allowing only for one destination ?

Hi Greg,

Im having almost same problem. I have 1711 and would like to use DDNS to update my router's dynamic IP address with the dyndns.org. But my router's image does not have support for dynamic DNS. Any idea from where can I download an image that support to DDNS for cisco 1711.

Thanks,

Brian

Hello,

I have problems configuring my 877 router for DYNDNS.

Can somebody post a complete working config?

Why does port 80 te be opened to the inside?
