unable to access FWSM from MSFC

hi,

I'm newly having the FWSM card and i'm trying to log into from the MSFC.

Try session slot 5 processor 1 but having a message :

CATA_6500#session slot 5 processor 1

The default escape character is Ctrl-^, then x.

You can also type 'exit' at the remote prompt to end the session

Trying 127.0.0.51 ...

% Connection timed out; remote host not responding

Doing a "show module" all seems ok : sattus OK/Pass

IOS is good : sup-bootflash:c6sup22-psv-mz.121-19.E1.bin

try also : hw-module module 5 reset cf:1 and hw-module module 5 reset cf:4

but doesn't to work...

Anybody having an idea ?

thanks in advance

Sounds like you have a 'ip telnet source-interface' configured on your MSFC. Can you check this and of there, remove it and try again?

yes, you're right! That's the case, and now it's working well

My collegue push it to allow distant telnet on the catalyst for admin.

Just a question. Is the MSFC using a "default IP source" to access the FWSM ?

thanks a lot

A - Sort of. The eobc interface on the FWSM only listens for telnet from 127.0.0.11 and .12. This is not configurable at the current time. But there is a bug opened on this (since a lot of people need to set the telnet-source interface) to allow something like this in the FWSM config:

Fornax(config)#telnet 10.200.200.1 255.255.255.255 eobc

The DDTS ID is CSCdy77690. If this is something you need, please talk with your local Cisco account rep to see if they can push this "feature" within the development team. Good luck!
