Hello,

To perform upgrade from 4.2.3 to 6.1.2, you will have to go through numerous incremental upgrades.  The fastest way would be to reimage directly to 6.1.2.  However, re-imaging will cause you to lose all events on the MARS and also the configuration, so you will need to reconfigure the MARS from scratch.

Here are the instructions for the re-imaging process:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/security_management/cs-mars/6.1/initial/configuration/bckRstrSby.html#wp1133696

The iso image can be downloaded here:

Hope this helps!

Hi Allen,

If he reimaged to 6.1.2 he will loose the license? is there any way to take the installed license to reuse it after reimaging?

Regards,

Rami

Hello,

The following is mentioned in the link I previously provided:

Caution The  recovery process erases the MARS Appliance hard disk drive. You  permanently lose all configuration and event data that you have not  previously archived or backed up. If possible, write down your license  key before you re-image the appliance. You must provide this license key  during the initial configuration following any re-image operation, and  it is not restored as part of archived data.

...

(Models  20/20R, 50, 100/100e, 200, GC/GCm) Write down your license key before  you re-image the appliance. You must provide this license key during the  initial configuration following the re-image operation.

(Models  25/25R, 55, 110/110R, 210, GC2/GC2R) You must provide the license file  during the initial configuration following the re-image operation.

So yes, the license will be removed when the MARS is reimaged, so you will need to reapply the license during the initial configuration.

Hope this helps.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for the reply, as i understood i have to write down the license, i'll check how to do that and try to find where the license is installed and write it, maybe on chassis or on the license key page.

Thanks and Regards,

Rami
