VSOM 7.6 RTSP Error when trying to view video

I have a lab setup with it's on dns servers and VSM/VSOM. I was trying to view the camera feeds via Vsom and was getting the RTSP error and the only way I found to resolve this issue was to change the dns servers on my laptop to the dns servers for the lab which is the same dns servers VSM/VSOM are using. Does this mean only pc's with the same dns servers can view cameras via Vsom or am I missing something?

Hmmm.  I think it ultimately depends on the activity you are performing.  If the VSMS instances are registered by hostname, I think VSOM constructs URIs using this hostname, and then it's supplied to the client machine requesting the resource.  At this point, your client would need to resolve the provided hostname for actual IP connectivity.

If you are just using this for a lab setup, you can add a hosts file manual entry to override/supercede your typical DNS name resolution.  Depending on what you are actually trying to accomplish, it may work out for you.

Cheers!
