Hello, in VSOM, I have added a new Axis camera and created a new camera in the system and selected to replace the existing camera. It is working and recording but getting this error that will not clear: "Motion window is not configured on the camera. Record on motion and other actions will not work".
The template is set for "Record on Motion and Continuous Recording". I did try setting the motion window on the camera and did not make any difference and that isn't set on the other cameras.
Just trying to figure out how to get rid of the error, thanks for any help.

Step-by-Step: Configure Motion Window in VSOM
Open VSOM Administrator interface:
Go to Events, and find the event tied to motion recording for this camera.
Click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the event.
Navigate to the Motion Configuration tab.
Here you'll draw active (green) windows and optional mask (red) windows over the live camera feed preview. VSOM needs these defined—otherwise it assumes no motion areas are set
support.ipconfigure.com.
Create at least one active motion window:
Click New, name the window (e.g., LobbyMotion), leave mask unchecked.
Resize/move the window to cover the area where you expect motion.
Click Submit or Apply.
Save your changes and give VSOM a moment to update the settings.
Verify the error is cleared:
Return to the camera status or event logs—if the motion window is recognized, the warning should disappear.
Why the Camera GUI Alone Isn’t Enough
VSOM requires its own configuration of motion areas—even if the camera’s web UI shows motion windows or detection. Without VSOM knowing which stream/media profile to reference, features like “Record on Motion” won’t function. This aligns with the VSOM user guide approach.
Additional Tips
Firmware compatibility: Some Axis cameras report issues unless running a fully supported firmware version. If you've upgraded recently, double-check it's on a version compatible with your VSOM release.
Templates vs. Camera-specific: Templates apply settings but don’t delete or override camera-specific motion config. You sometimes need to open the event to push the window onto the camera.
Re-add the camera: If VSOM still flags an old configuration after updating the motion window, try removing and re-adding the camera to force a profile refresh.
