We recently onboarded a customer with over 900 locations nationwide. They previously used Meraki solutions but sought a new partnership along with a complete hardware refresh.

We delivered a comprehensive, fully managed end-to-end solution, covering every aspect from the ISP connection through to the underlay/overlay network and Meraki MR access points.

Meraki equipment deployed:

  • MR Access Points: 7,434 units

  • MS210-24 Switches: 1,309 units

  • MS210-24P Switches: 812 units

  • MS225-24P Switches: 253 units

All equipment was provisioned and preconfigured across 907 distinct networks using API automation.

My primary responsibility involved maximizing automation to ensure a seamless transition from their old dashboard to the new one. While the previous setup relied on configuration templates, I opted against their use in the new deployment to achieve more granular control, simplifying management for administrators who may not possess extensive dashboard experience.

Additionally, alongside the Meraki infrastructure, we deployed over 900 Cisco FTD 1120 firewalls managed through Security Cloud Control (SCC), formerly known as Cisco Defense Orchestrator (CDO). I also spearheaded automation efforts for this deployment, which presented unique challenges as it was among the largest cloud-managed rollouts of this new product to date. One significant issue was the SCC platform’s limitation of 1,000 devices, placing us close to the threshold and occasionally resulting in HTTP 504 Gateway Timeout errors. We anticipate resolution of these limitations in the near future.
