Cisco Router 2911

My name is Gabriel and I have a quick question about the 2911 Routers.

I was recently tasked with setting multiple routers to their default factory setting,

however one router in particular won't respond.

The router simply turns on and returns the ♦ character.

What can I do to bypass this, if I can.

Sincerely Gabriel

This is via the console port, correct?

Try different baud rates. On your terminal program.

Thanks for responding!

unfortunately your suggestions didn't work with the router. Yes, I'm using the console port.

After trying each of the different baud rates I still did not receive a response from the router.

The only baud rate that seems to work is the 9600, but even with this rate I only receive ♦ as a response.

my terminal settings are as follows

  • 9600 baud rate (I've tried the other rates as well)
  • no parity
  • 8 data bits
  • 1 stop bit
  • no flow control

What else can I do?

How confident are you that this router actually works - and isn't defective?
