How do you downgrade the firmware on a rv340 router?

We want to downgrade the firmware for academic purposes on the rv340 router. How would we do this? Would we just flash the router and use an usb to upload the old firmware?

 - I don't think you need to flash the router, just use this procedure :

                      but use the image you want to install (instead).
