NAT question with RV042G

Bought a RV042G a few days ago nothing crazy as far as network setup however I am having a problem with NAT.

I have my DHCP scope set to 192.168.1.10 - 254; I statically assigned my server with 192.168.1.7 and went into the Gui and enabled NAT for my public IP (lets say 1.2.3.4) and set the private IP to 192.168.1.7 and length of '1'.

Should work right ?  I RDP to another machine on a different network however I cat ping the 1.2.3.4 address.  I can ping the router but nothing else.

I did try the multiple subnet option and added both to the list but that didn't seem to help.

What am I missing ?

Hello,

I'm sorry you are having issues with your device.

It sound like you are trying to configure One to One NAT, but I'm not sure why or what is it that you are trying to accomplish.

For you to be able to use one to One NAT on this device, the router should have a static IP address on the Internet port, and, as part of your service with the internet provider, you should have more Public IP addresses available, then, you will go to One to One NAT and you will enter one of the extra Public IP addresses (different from the one assigned to the WAN of the router) and also the private IP of your internal server.

If your network doesn't comply with the above requirements then the One to One NAT feature won't work.

Please let us know what is the purpose of this configuration so that we can help you better.

I hope this helps

Yes, very simple here.  All I am trying to do is ping one of my public IPs behind the router.

Here i what I have, few pics at the bottom to better explain.

Router IPS

WAN 1 on the router has  a static IP from my ISP.

LAN side router is configured for 192168.1.1

Plugged into one of the LAN ports on the router I have a laptop with a static private IP of 192.168.1.7. (Subnet and gateway same as the router)

From the laptop I can successfully ping the public IP of the router and the laptop it self, however I cant ping the other private IP I have assigned via NAT.  Hopefully the pictures below help.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thank you for all the information it was very helpful.

Everything that you sent is perfectly configured, which led me to believe the issue could be related to these two things:

1- Could there be an access rule that is blocking traffic to that address?

2- Is it possible the PC that you are trying to reach via the NAT feature, is using a different IP for the default gateway than the IP address of the router?

Please let us know.

Turns out the RV042G is just fine, I didn't realize it but I had to get my provider (AT&T) to add a 'BGBP' route from their large 2921 router to the small router i just purchased.

Once they did that everything started working...

Thanks again for your help

Not a problem thanks for letting us know.

Im glad it is working for you!
