Lukas,

You have the ftp ports forwarded to your ftp server correct?

Now depending on the mode of ftp your using, it will use random ports coming into the ftp server and if the router does not know of those ports they will get blocked at the firewall.

As a quick test, you can do a forward all and make sure you can get into the ftp server.  Once that is established, then maybe do a wireshark packet capteure of the traffic coming into the router and see what the port number is that is connecting to your ftp server.

If the connection is sporatic, you will have to configure your ftp to a more permanent listening port number so the router will not block it.

Sorry, but I don1 speak very good english..

I was Try this quick test: As a quick test, you can do a forward all and make sure you can get into the ftp server.

but result it is to same.

I think, that problem is in firmware, becasue I know more people who own this router with to same firmware version (2.0.1.3), and have they to same problem how I.

I have DISABLED FIREWALL on my router and problem hold over.

If I replace router Cisco Linksys WRVS4400N by Ovislink router or any other, issue (problem) already no is.

Configuration in Cisco Linksys WRVS4400N and configurations in any other router is to same, but FTP connection via Cisco Lynksys always will crash.

If I connect to any other FTP server, sometimes requieres from me ftp login and password. It is OK, but if I assign login and password, after connect me to this FTP server, i see folders and files on this server, but without reason connecting fall down.

Few seconds later if I connect to the to same FTP server, sometime either not request login and password and connection fall down.

:-(

Just for better understanding, I can`t login from my PC (behind Linksys) to public FTP servers.

Lukas,

Ok, so its not a port forwarding issue.

Your typology what do you have inline with the wrvs4400n, switches etc...

Also if you remove the wrvs4400n from the mix in your lan, you can get to the ftp sites right?

Idealy with these routers when doing sending traffic from the lan to the wan by default it shouldn't be blocking the traffic.

Do you have any outbound firewall rules that would prohibit the use of ftp by chance?  Or a dmz host setup on the network?

DMZ is not configured, FIREWALL is curently DISABLED. Problem occured regardless firewall settings. Computer is directly conected to Linksys. If I use any other routers, I can connect to FTP sites. On internet I found that there is more people with simular problem.

Lukas,

With this only happening with the wrvs4400n, can you call in to your local Cisco SBSC to get a troubleshooting ticket open for this.

The contact list for worldwide support is here:

Thank you

Hello again.

We run more tests on router and found this situation: when we got connection problem again, in conntrac window we found that there is established connecion with FTP server, but also there is half-opened connection - router wait for data on wrong port as you can see in screenshot  - row with EXPECTING point to different port.

Because it is not possible to clear/disrupt connection, we need to wait until this time-out and after this we can connect again (connection from client don't work - session remain in expecting state).

We run more test from different PCs to eleiminate client problem and always get this expecting state when got connection problem.

Maybe this help

Regarding local Cisco SBSC: we spend more than 30 minutes mostly in hold state and after transfering to technician we got just busy tone, so we decided to continue in this forum again.

I’m also having a problem just connecting to my DSL line, which works on my current D-Link router. I’m using the NEW firmware image“WRVS4400Nv2_v2.0.2.1”, and the current problems are:

1: Page “WAN” -  Password field goes blank after saving
2: Page “Summary” / “WAN IP” – “Connect” No connection to the Internet using “PPPoE” (Now using my OLD router again)

Can anyone help???
