I have a RVS4000 router, and using Quick VPN client (latest version, 1.4.2.1?) on a computer with Windows Vista.  I can connect to the router, and I can see computers, and drives on the network. When I click on a drive or computer, I can't connect to the devices.  Local IP address are 192.168.1.x, remote is 192.168.2.x.  Please help.

have you shared the drives? you cannot acccess a computer directly unless you share its resources.

You should could however rdp and login to the local PC and access drives.

Yes, the drives are shared drives.  Other computers are connected them on the LAN.

are the shared drives hidden perhaps? Have you tried mapping the drive via IP?

\\ipaddress\sharename

or

\\ipaddress\C$

Tried that too, didn't help

It sounds like an issue with access privilege configured on the file shares.

It's on a basic peer-to-peer setup, so you don't have to log in or use passwords to access the drives.

are you able yo ping the individual pc's by name or ip?

Thanks Simon,

I was able to ping the IP.  Then I could connect to the resources using the IP address.

If you want to join or map a drive via shared name add the name/ip address in your lmhost file
