In what seems to be the strangest problem ever, I have a few client offices that for whatever reason when a workstation tries to resolve "server" which is at say 192.168.130.250 it might take about 10 seconds to finally ping back. Sometimes it takes 10 or more seconds and responds with some external IP that turns out to be a ATT ip address.
If it edit the host file everything is golden. This happens on domains as well as workgroups, its worse on a workgroup since the router is doing dhcp.
I guess my question is why is the router sending anything out side the network to resolve a local address, or why is there information from outside the network trying to resolve a local address?
This only seems to be a uverse customer issue, supposedly we cant get the modem into bridge mode, and I am waiting on confirmation of that.
Time warner customers, any others seems fine. Just uverse.
