Hi, We have a RV042. We have a Debian server on the network.

I have activated Enable Syslog on the RV042 router and pointed to the Debian Server IP.

Where are the logs for the Router saved on the Debian Server?

thanks!

Hi Thierry,

I am not familiar with Debian although I have run a syslog server in Windows. I had to download a syslog program and configure it to listen for syslog messages. I think you probably need to do some type of configuration on the server to make it listen. You should also be able to direct the server to save the syslog messages to a certain location for viewing.

thanks for your reply mpyhala.

There is a syslog server on the machine and it seems to be listening. I am simply wondering where the file from the RV046 server log is placed. I would have thought that a separate log file would be created in /var/log or something. Maybe I got my configs wrong. I would need guidance on this I guess. thanks
