Hi ,
I have a Gateway to Gateway VPN between two sites. It is working fine. I have just added another ISP with a faster connection. I change the network setting for the new ISP and the internet connection works fine, however the VPN will no longer connect (I have changed the IP settings for the VPN)
Here are the details:
Main Site:
Cisco RV042G
Configured as Smart Link Backup Primary WAN 1
WAN 1 - ADSL Modem Static IP
WAN 2 - Fiber ONT Static IP
Gateway to Gateway VPN; Initiated by remote host; WAN1; Local Group Setup - IP Only
Remote Site
Cisco RV042G
Configured WAN 1only
WAN 1 - ADSL Modem Dynamic IP
WAN 2 - N/A
Gateway to Gateway VPN; Initiated by local host; WAN1; Local Group Setup - Dynamic IP + Email Authentication
VPN works on current configuration.
If I switch WAN 2 (on Main site) to Primary, internet works fine
I change the VPN to use WAN 2 (on Main site)
I adjust the working VPN configuration at the remote site to point to the new IP address. Everything else stays the same.
The VPN will NOT connect to the new connection.
I am pulling my hair out with this. All setting remain the same except the new IP address.
Can anyone help, give me some insight?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I'm sorry you're having frustration with fixing this issue. Have you made sure the ADSL modems are in bridge mode? Since you said you changed ISPs, most of the time that would imply a new modem. Make sure both routers are displaying a public IP address on their WAN connections.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, everything was set to bridge mode. Full internet functionality was working and I could ping the main RV042 from the remote site.
Tried again last night and it worked! Didn't make any changes other than the new IP address. Connected right away. Don't know why, but it's working.
Thanks
