RV042G WAN Bandwidth has only 100Mps?

Hello

I just got the RV042G today.  I found the router can only accept 100000 Kbit/sec as bandwith, which is 100Mps only.  According to the specification, it should have 1000Mps WAN.  I have a internet link of 1000Mps, which is now limited by this router.  Any idea if there is something wrong?

Thanks.

Best

Hi Andrei

Could you please to send me beta firmware for RV042G to achieve full speed (250) instead of 100mbit?

national7@gmail.com

Many thanks

M

Hi,

It is done.

Cheers,

Andrei

Hi Andrei or Cisco rep, could you send me the beta firmware for the RV042G? I just upgraded my spectrum cable to 200M and only gets 120m... searched the web and found this post.... didnt know the router has this issue until the speed upgrade..  you can send the file to paulkeemon@gmail.com

Thank you very much

Paul

I been having the same issue.

I have Comcast 300 down and 25 up but only getting 110 to 130 down.

If I use the same cable and disconnect it from the RV042G and connect to my laptop I can get over 300 down.

What's up with this router?
All I seen from 2013 and still no fix for this?
Using firmware: v4.2.3.08 (Dec 6 2016 13:49:39)

So I guess the fix was never released?????
HELP!!!!

Hi,

When I set it to auto negotiate it worked. You can't manually set the speed
on the WAN port which is something these boneheads forgot to put in the
documentation. Of you set it, it won't connect at 1Gb.

Once you set it to auto negotiate and it still doesn't come up, your WAN
connection to the ISP probably isn't 1000mbps.

Some ISPs forget to set the connection full duplex 1Gb even though they
bill you for it .

More boneheads ......

Hahaha !!!

On another note... I acquired two 2960G switches from Cisco and would you
believe with no USB and the Console port dead on both switches (meaning iOS
was removed during Decommissioning ) there is absolutely no way to
reinstall the iOS..

Why would they make a $2000 switch with NO usb port.....

Hahahaha!!!!! More boneheads.

I'm ok with speed if I connect directly to the ARRIS TG1682G modem.
It's only when the RV042G is connected it slows down.

I can get 130 down with the firewall disabled.

With cat6 cable I am connected at 1000 mbps connection to the ARRIS TG1682G modem
It's the router I ruled that out tonight.

The reason I purchased this router is for the VPN I may have to look for another model.

I have 6 RV042 routers out there but not worried about speed with them but at home I need all of the speed I can get and pay for.

I'm stumped.

John

Hard reset.

Make sure WAN is set to auto negotiate.

If it still doesn't work, return it.

RV042 isn't worth it sometimes. Mine works fine but if it didn't I was
going to return it.

Netgear has excellent Gigabit compliant routers.

Or.... You could always grab a couple of older PCs, load a Linux base open
source router platform through a couple of 1Gb PC cards in and away you go.

Ok think I found the issue.

1. I restored my "Access Rules" to default

2. Disabled my "Content Filters"

3. I disabled and re enabled "Auto Negotiation" in "Port Setup"

Now I'm close to 300 down from 110.

I'll take that!

Hope this works for others.

John

Ah, yes content filter slows down traffic for sure. But I never enabled
mine and only used the default access rules.

My issue was definitely WAN port negotiation.

Great you got decent speeds.

Cheers,

Dw
