The version 3 RV082 ( 4.0.0.07) will not allow the same static IP on both WAN interfaces. Version 2 RV082 allowed this so that the duplicated interface could be used as a 'spare' interface. How can I do this in Version 3 RV082's ?

Hi,
Thanks for reporting this issue. Would you mind illustrating how the spare interface could be useful, so I can help replay the use case to the product team?

We have 200+ RV-82 routers deployed worldwide. Nearly every day we have a
situation where the ISP has
a problem, but blames 'the router'.. By having both WAN1 and WAN2
interfaces with the same static IP, we
can move the ISP modem cable to the unused ( but pre configured) interface
and prove that the RV router
is not broken.
This is a VERY valuable diagnostic technique and does not require that we
spend a lot of time working with
an unskilled local user to configure the 'spare' interface. What is
particularly irritating is that the version 1
and 2 RV's allowed this, but the 'improved' version 3 does not. Please
help !!
Tks,

Sorry that I do not follow the above logic. What kind of ISP fault can be shown by changing the WAN port of RV082.

When the ISP connectivity goes down or has intermittent connectivity
issues, and we call for service they always blame the customer
equipment, which in our case is the RV router. By having the ability to
move the ISP connection / cable to the unused (spare ) RV
interface we can prove that the RV router interface is not broken.
If we can not prove that the interface of the RV router is not defective,
our only option is to replace the RV router which means an
extended outage for a business office..
We had this ability in the version 1 and 2 RV's so to me it is not logical
that Linksys would have "improved" the version 3 by preventing
the WAN1 and WAN2 interfaces from having the same static IP ...
Tks,
Dennis
