I have setup portforwarding on the RV220W, to allow outside connections on RDP. I have tested that LAN RDP works fine, but when I test using an outside address trying to connect to an inside windows PC with RDP nothing happens.
I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on where I might be going wrong.
I have created the Service RDP
Thanks

There are known issues with the "Port Forwarding" feature, use the Firewall Rules instead.

Thanks Simon,
OK so removed portforwarding, and used the rules.I am still having trouble with RDP or SSH, external to inside even though the IPs match and the services have been created.
Any ideas?
Thanks

are your PCs that your trying to connect to allowing RDP/SSH from an external sourced IP or are you VPN'd in?
Is any firewall on the PCs stopping connection?

All are allowing RDP/SSH from an external sourced IP, and not using VPN. All firewalls are disabled.
The layout I am using is MacBook (External IP) connected to the WAN of the CISCO, from the CISCO there is a Windows PC (internal IP) and a Linux (internal IP) connected.
I cant ping any internal IPs (using external address) either, and have checked allow WAN pings.

tbh i hope you couldn't ping you inside PCs that would be leaving your network wide open to hackers. are you behind any company proxy at work perhaps? or just one a normal ISP connection? when port forwarding your PCs will need static IPs or static DHCP assigned IPs.
Really, if you are able, i would setup the SSL VPN. then you browse to your routers external IP address as usual but enter your SSLVPN user account (not the Cisco Admin account), this will then give you a SSL VPN Tunnel issuing you an internal IP address and thus allowing you to access local network shares/PCs etc (without port forwarding) and is much safer then opening RDP and other ports to the world.
this is what I do to access my NAS Services from work to home.
there are known issues with the latest Java and Mac Books but there is a workaround stated in the latest firmware release notes.

PS, look atthe admin guide page 120-126 for setup.

Hi Simon,
No proxy or ISP connection, all of my layout (shown below) is all direct connections to the CISCO
The layout I am using is MacBook (Configured with External IP) connected directly to the WAN of the CISCO, from the CISCO there is a Windows PC (Configured with internal IP) and a Linux box (Configured with internal IP) both connected directly to the CISCO.
The SSL VPN sounds great, and is something I would like to try later on but I am trying to get these routes working as this is replacing another cisco and I am needing RDP and SSH routes working from my office to the clients. That's why I am doing all local testing, with direct connections before taking it down to the clients.
Thanks

Kristopher,
What is the configuration of the computers TCP/IP stack? Also what is the configuration of the WAN?
Also please have a screen shot of your firewall rules. I haven’t had any problems with just port forwarding on these units.
Thanks,

Hi
I have my Macbook that I have configured to be the external device, there are 3 devices connected to the CISCO.
IP : 81.x.x.102
Sub : 255.255.255.0
Router : 81.x.x.97
I then connect direct to the Cisco which is setup IP : 81.x.x.97 (192.168.0.1) from my Eithernet port to the WAN on the CISCO
From the Cisco again direct connection are
PC : 192.168.0.10 (81.x.x.99) - Port 1
Linux : 192.168.0.9 (81.x.x.101) - Port 2
The firewall rule I have setup to allow RDP to all WAN > LAN and it points to the PC (192.168.0.10 (81.x.x.99)), and also SSH but points to the Linux box
Everything I have tried keeps failing for either RDP or SSH, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Kristopher,
This has to be a configuration issue on setup. Can't really put my finger on exactly what's going on for faster resolution;if you would like give us a call @ 1-866-606-1866 and the next available engineer will be able to assist you in trouble shooting what's wrong.

I'm having a similar issue on a RV220W (revision A V01) running firmware 1.0.4.17.
I'm trying to get remote desktop (RDP) running over a QuickVPN connection. RDP inside the LAN works fine and Windows Firewall is off on the destination computer. QuickVPN is also working fine from external IPs and VPN users can access the local server, FTP, etc.
However, incoming RDP connections fail outright -- both over the QuickVPN connection *and* over a typical port forward setup. Other port forwards we set up (for FTP, etc), seem to be working fine.
Is there an issue with RDP and the RV220W?
Thanks,
David
