Hi,

I have been trying to configure Shrew vpn client 2.2.2 to connect to the RV320 but i cant even get phase1 to work. I would be very grateful is someone has managed this and could post the configuration (tunnel, groupvpn or easyvpn). I use:

RV320 with fw 1.1.1.19

Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Shrew Soft vpn-client 2.2.2

Okay here you go please see attached images.

Please note the following:

  • In this example NAT Traversal is enabled if you're RV320 isn't setup behind another router i think you can disable it.

  • Under "Local Group Setup" enter the IP Address and Subnet Mask of the LAN you're RV320 is part of.

  • The preshared key you enter under IPSec setup is entered in Shrew in the "Authentication" --> "Credentials" tab.

  • We use Extended Authetication (Xauth+PSK in Shrew Soft) you need to have a user + password setup under "User Management" tab on the RV320. Once you connect with Shrew Soft it will prompt for a username + password that is setup on the RV320 under the User Management Tab

  • We're using "Mode Config" the IPSEC cliënt will be assigned a address from the Virtual IP Address range.

  • In this example DNS nor WINS Server have been configured.

Since i could not get the Shrew Soft vpn-client to pass even phase1 i tried the Greenbow vpn-client and it worked without any trouble at all, tried 4 different tunnel configs and no problem.

Maybe the Shrew Soft vpn-client isn't compatible at all with the RV320, still if someone has made a succesful Shrew / RV320 config please post it.

After a lot of research and trying i've been able to configure Shrew Soft to connect to  Cliënt to gateway Tunnels the Gateway being the RV320.

Shrew works fine under Linux 4.0 (Xubuntu 14.10) and Windows 7 and 10 (haven't tried Windows 8.x).

It does however take a lot of figuring things out before getting it working since there's not really a manual available for the RV320 and Shrew Soft cliënt and the settings on the RV320 are named differently on the Shrew Soft cliënt.

Thanks :D, could you post a working config of a rv320 tunnel and a Shrew config? i can work onwards from that and see if i could get it to work.

Still no go on my Windows 8.1 computer. In your earlier post you mentioned Shrew works fine under Windows 7/10 and Ubuntu so i installed a virtual machine with Windows 8 and a virtual machine with Windows 8.1 and Shrew worked fine on those. Right now i am updating the virtual Windows 8.1 to see if it is an update that causes Shrew not to work.

But thanks for your effort and input it helped a lot, i now know Shrew actually works with the RV320 but something breaks it on my W8.1 fully updated computer.

-EDIT-

It seems that the only computer Shrew does not work on is my "main" computer, on all others Shrew works fine. So all my Shrew problems were because i tried it on a faulty computer :D.

-EDIT2-

The nic was broken i have swapped it and everything works perfectly now :D.
