I'm configuring an RV320 with Smart Link backup. I have static IPs for both WAN1 and WAN2. As i host services on this network, I not only need the fail over capability, but also for the router to change the IP for the domain name on fail over. I have a custom DNS from Dyndns for the domain.
So my question is: How does the Dynamic DNS update? Does it only update the active connection, or both? For example, if WAN1 is up, will the router also update WAN2's IP? I'm hoping not, so i can configure both WAN1 and WAN2 with the identical Dynamic DNS settings - i.e, same host name for both WAN1 and WAN2. Thus, if WAN1 goes down, and WAN2 becomes active, it will update the DynDNS with WAN2's IP addresses. Once WAN1 becomes active again, it will then update the IP again.
Does anyone know if the DDNS updates in this way? thanks.
