WRVS4400N brand new but no WIFI

Just bought a CISCO WRVS4400N V2 reconditioned (shoulda known better?) and it doesn't seem to work quite right.

SPECS: Firmware version 2.0.0.8 (any newer/older firmware that really works ?).  CPU: STAR 9202 with 64MB DRAM, 16MB FLASH.

Straight out of the box I was able to connect to one of the RJ45 ports on the back and with minimal setup was looking at the internet.  My new Comcast XFINITY 25 MB connection was delivering 25MB/s + down and 6-8MB/s up at Speedtest.net.  I was thrilled.

Then I looked at the front of the box and noticed that

- the power light was green,

- the Diag light was dark,

- the IPS light was green, but

- the Wireless light was dark (AI-EEEEEEE).  I

snatched up a couple of Android tablets I had laying around, plus my old MS Mobile 6.5 smart phone, and sure enough, they saw nothing - the scanners on those three never did show one ounce of wireless service from this box.

Switched back to my old wireless router and BING! I had an internet connection on my WIFI tablet.  Switched back to the 4400N and it went away.  Went through all of the setup screens, and can't see anything that would outright turn the signal off.

That was last night.  Just spent another hour going at it tonight.  Still no success.  Frustrated, because I've done data communications stuff for over two decades and everything is telling me this 4400N is DOA.  Am I just a IOS dummy ?

So ... what's the deal ?  Does 'Cisco Certified' mean everything works, or not ?  Help me ?  Please tell me I'm just dumb and that there's a simple solution to my problem.

Hello Larry,

There is a new firmware available: WRVS4400Nv2_v2.0.2.1.img

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282414016&softwareid=282487380&release=2.0.2.1&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

To disable the wireless on the WRVS4400N, go to Wireless-> Basic Settings and change the Wireless Network Mode: to Disabled. In any other mode you should see the default SSID: ciscosb when you scan for wireless networks.

You may want to restore the factory default settings by holding the reset button for 30 seconds with the device powered on using a paperclip.

If you still do not see any wireless, return the device to the place of purchase.
