now we want to buy some   new routers  used as customer  aggregation  device , which is high 10G port density( 16 or 24 10Gb ports , )support mpls vpn. we don't need too much advanced  security and muticast , TE ,programmable   feature .

before we use ASR 9006 , but the 10G port board is  too expensive for us .

is there any device can meet our requirement . thanks

Sorry, to be clear, the ASR1001-HX has 16 ports:

4 x 10GE SFP

4 x 1/10GE SFP

8 x 1GE SFP,

with a 60Gbps forwarding engine

So doesn't meet your requirements. I meant to say use the ASR1002-HX. This has:

8 x 10GE SFP

8 x 1GE SFP

with a 100Gbps forwarding engine

and can take a 10 x 10GE SFP Ethernet Line Card. It can also accept a NIM, but I doubt that this would be near line-rate 10GE.

If you need to go to 16 x 10GE line-rate ports, you are really looking at an ASR1006-X.

Hope this helps,

How many 10 Gbps ports do you need?

Hi Leo . thanks for your reply , i need 16 10Gbps ports , or 24 port is also ok .

16 to 24 x 10 Gbps.
How about NAT? Will the platform do NAT?

no NAT is needed .

This looks like a Catalyst 9500.

You need to decide if you need a L3 switch or a router - there is quite a difference in practice. If you need larger buffers for WAN, hierarchical QoS or any of the other router platform functions go for and ASR1001-HX. If you don't need these, go for a switch. There are plenty of switch options: Nexus 93180YC or Catalyst 4500X, or the other options that have already been suggested.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your information .

there is something wired in the device page introduce link below:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/routers/asr-1001-hx-router/index.html

it says that

Scalability 44 Gbps – 60 Gbps

it also say
Support for built-in front panel 4x10GE, 8x1GE, and 4 configurable 10-Gibabit-Ethernet (GE) and 1-GE portand

but 4 buid it 10GE + 4  configurable 10GE  is 80 Gbps,

Does that mean this device cannot support 8 Gbps , am i right ?
