4506 catalyst processor and 2811 router processing and memory utilization

I need an Idead what is the feature of IP base IOS that utilize processing and memory of Router and switches. Is it Route MAP of PBR or IP route? What is the best practices or recommended to use when routing traffic to another network.

I think that PBR and static routing are the features that are Protocol-Independent.for a list of protocol independant features refer the link below:
